AI Nodes

AI nodes are the heart of Creatos. They take connected content and generate new output through an interactive chat interface.

The Chat Interface

Each AI node includes a full chat interface where you can:

• Send prompts to generate content
• Have multi-turn conversations to refine output
• Reference connected nodes as variables
• See AI responses stream in real-time

Connected Inputs as Variables

When you connect content or browser nodes to an AI node, they appear as variable chips you can insert into prompts.

How to use variables:

1. Connect an upstream node to the AI node
2. Click the variable to insert it into your message
3. Or drag the variable into the chat input
4. Variables are inserted as {{Node Title}}

The AI will automatically include referenced node content in its context when generating responses.

Writing Prompts

Reference Content

Use variable syntax to include connected content:

Based on {{My Research}}, write a summary of the key points.

Multi-Source Prompts

Combine multiple inputs:

Compare the ideas from {{Article 1}} with {{YouTube Video}} and identify common themes.

Be Specific

Include details about format, length, and style:

Write a 5-tweet Twitter thread based on {{My Notes}}.
Make it conversational and engaging.

System Instructions

The AI node has an optional System Instructions panel:

1. Click the book icon in the floating toolbar to expand
2. Enter system-level instructions for the AI (persona, rules, style)
3. System instructions persist across the conversation
4. Click the icon again to collapse

Example system instructions:

You are a professional content writer specializing in tech industry analysis.
Always write in an engaging, accessible style.
Format outputs with clear headers and bullet points.

Message Pinning

After generating content, you can "pin" your favorite response:

1. Hover over any AI response message
2. Click the pin icon to select it as the output
3. The pinned message becomes the selected output for downstream use

Branching Conversations

If you want to explore a different direction:

1. Branch from a specific message
2. Creatos creates a new AI node with that context
3. Continue from there without losing the original thread

Clear Conversation

To start fresh:

1. Click the trash icon in the floating toolbar
2. Confirm to clear all messages
3. A clean conversation starts

Sending Results to Content Nodes

Once you have generated content:

1. Add or select a Content node
2. Connect the AI node's output handle to that content node
3. Review, edit, copy, or save the result
